# Affiliate disclosure

**OwnerSpec earns commission on some of the links on this site.** If you click one and buy
something, the merchant pays us a percentage. You pay exactly the same price either way.

This disclosure exists because the US Federal Trade Commission requires it (16 CFR Part 255),
because the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement requires it, and because you cannot judge a
recommendation without knowing how the person making it gets paid.

We will add programmes to this table as we join them, and remove them when we leave. If a
link earns us nothing, it is here because it is the right link, which happens often: standards
bodies, regulators and manufacturer documentation never pay anyone.

## What commission does not buy

- **It does not buy a recommendation.** Which product wins a comparison is decided by the
  method set out in our [editorial policy](/legal/editorial-policy/), before any link is
  added.
- **It does not change a number.** Capacities, flow rates, micron ratings and compatibility
  data come from manufacturer documentation and published standards, and are cited.
- **It does not buy placement.** We do not accept payment for a review, a position in a
  ranking, an inclusion in a table, or a link in an article. No manufacturer has ever paid us
  to write anything.
- **It does not hide a worse option.** Where the cheaper or unbranded part is the right
  answer, we say so, including when it earns us less.

## How the links behave

Affiliate links are ordinary links. They carry a tracking parameter that tells the merchant
we sent you. They do not follow you around the internet on our behalf, and we never receive
your name, your address or your order. We see aggregate commission reports only.

Every page carrying affiliate links says so at the top of the page, not only here.

## Prices

Prices we quote were correct on the date shown on the page and change constantly. The
merchant's own page is always the authority. We never quote a discount we have not seen.
