Faucet and shower head Black Friday and Prime Day deal check: the flow cap, the cartridge and the hole count decide before the discount does

Federal caps are 2.5 gpm for shower heads and 2.2 gpm for faucets; California prints 1.8. Check the cap, the cartridge family and the hole count before the sale.

Short answer

A shower head or kitchen faucet deal during Black Friday (Friday November 27, 2026) or Prime Big Deal Days (October 6-7, 2026, per Amazon’s own announcement) is worth taking only if the fixture passes three checks before the card’s percentage is read. First, the flow number is legal where you live: 10 CFR 430.32 caps shower heads at 2.5 gpm at 80 psi and kitchen faucets at 2.2 gpm at 60 psi, and California’s Title 20 prints 1.8 gpm for both. Second, if the old faucet only drips, the cartridge inside it (Moen’s Arbor 7594 sheet prints the 1255) is the cheaper fix, and the sale is on the wrong thing. Third, the new faucet fits the holes and deck already there: Moen prints 1 or 3 holes and a 2-1/2 in maximum deck, Pfister 3 in. EPA WaterSense labels shower heads at 2.0 gpm or less and has no label at all for kitchen faucets, so a “WaterSense kitchen faucet” badge describes nothing.

The picks

  1. Lives under California's 1.8 gpm cap, or wants the lowest-flow metal head

High Sierra Classic 1.8 gpm lead-free metal head (polished chrome)

High Sierra product page: 1.8 gpm option listed as WaterSense (1.25 and 1.5 gpm options too), pressure compensating, solid lead-free metal, 1/2 in-14 NPS female thread, no tape needed; no warranty term in years printed on the page read

  2. Wants a fixed head plus a detachable handheld with the WaterSense label

Delta In2ition 75655SN 2-in-1 with ProClean (brushed nickel)

Delta product page: 1.75 gpm at 80 psi (6.6 L/min), six settings including ProClean and Pause, WaterSense labeled, 12-1/8 in overall height, Lifetime Limited Warranty; hose length not printed

  3. Wants a fixed head with every standard printed on the maker's sheet

Kohler Forte K-22169-G-CP three-function head (polished chrome)

Kohler spec sheet: 1.75 gpm (6.6 lpm), three sprays, 5-1/2 in diameter, 1/2 in-14 NPT, ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1, DOE EPAct 1992, EPA WaterSense, CEC, IAPMO, Kohler Faucet Lifetime Limited Warranty; arm and flange sold separately

  4. Wants magnetic docking on a 1- or 3-hole sink at the lower kitchen tier

Pfister Talega F-529-7TE pull-down kitchen faucet (matte black)

Pfister product page (F-529-7TEGS, same series): 1.8 gpm, 1 or 3 holes, 3 in max deck thickness, MagnePfit docking, Pforever Seal ceramic disc valve, IAPMO certified to ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 61, Pforever Warranty with registration; hose length not quoted

  5. Replacing a leaking Moen, wants a cartridge the maker indexes and the longest printed hose

Moen Arbor 7594C pull-down kitchen faucet (chrome)

Moen 7594 spec sheet: 1.5 gpm (5.7 L/min) at 60 psi, 1255 Duralast cartridge, Reflex docking, 68 in braided hose, 1 or 3 holes with a 6-1/2 in escutcheon, 2-1/2 in max deck, NSF 61/9 and 372, lifetime limited warranty to the original homeowner

Do not buy a faucet because the card says it is a big percentage off; buy it because you know the leak is not the cartridge, and if you are not sure, read which faucet cartridge do I have before the sale ends, not after.

How do you read the discount on the card?

The price and any “Save” figure on each card above are Amazon’s live numbers with Amazon’s time stamp; this page states no price.

A percentage is only as honest as its denominator. Amazon’s seller guidance defines the struck-through List Price as the suggested retail price from a manufacturer, supplier or seller, and a Typical Price as the median customers paid over the past 90 days, excluding limited-time promotions. The FTC’s rule at 16 CFR 233.1 accepts a former price only if it was the actual, bona fide price offered to the public on a regular basis for a reasonably substantial period of time.

Trap 1: the flow cap where you live

A sale does not change your state’s cap. The federal rule, 10 CFR 430.32, caps shower heads at 2.5 gpm (9.5 L/min) at 80 psi and kitchen and lavatory faucets, plus replacement aerators, at 2.2 gpm (8.3 L/min) at 60 psi. California’s Title 20 section 1605.3 prints 1.8 gpm for shower heads manufactured on or after July 1, 2018, 1.8 gpm for kitchen faucets with an optional temporary 2.2 gpm, and 1.2 gpm for lavatory faucets. Colorado’s bill PDFs returned HTTP 403 on 9 October 2026, so its limits are not quoted.

FixtureFederal cap (10 CFR 430.32)California (Title 20 section 1605.3)EPA WaterSense label
Shower head2.5 gpm at 80 psi1.8 gpm at 80 psi (made on or after July 1, 2018)2.0 gpm or less
Kitchen faucet2.2 gpm at 60 psi1.8 gpm at 60 psi, optional temporary 2.2 gpmNo label exists
Bathroom sink faucet2.2 gpm at 60 psi1.2 gpm at 60 psi1.5 gpm maximum

EPA’s showerheads page says the average family could save 2,700 gallons per year with labeled heads; its bathroom faucets page says EPA has no criteria for kitchen faucets to earn the label. The shower cost calculator turns a gpm difference into gallons and dollars.

The High Sierra Classic is the pick for a 1.8 gpm state: its page lists the 1.8 gpm option as WaterSense, with 1.25 and 1.5 gpm options below it, pressure compensating. The page prints no warranty term in years, so none is claimed.

Trap 2: the cartridge behind the faucet you already own

The cartridge is the valve inside the faucet body that opens, closes and mixes the water, and it is what fails when a faucet drips. If that is the complaint, the sale is on the wrong product: the Moen cartridge page and the Delta cartridge page match the part to the model.

Only one faucet pick here prints its cartridge. Moen’s Arbor 7594 sheet prints the 1255 Duralast cartridge, a 68 in braided hose and 1.5 gpm (5.7 L/min) at 60 psi, about 32 percent below the federal 2.2 gpm cap (arithmetic, not a Moen figure). Delta’s Essa 9113-DST sheet names a diamond coated ceramic cartridge with no part number, and Pfister’s Talega page a Pforever Seal ceramic disc valve, also without one.

The Moen Arbor 7594C is the pick for a reader who wants the next leak to be a part number; skip it if the sink fills pots all day, since 1.5 gpm is the lowest flow here.

Trap 3: the hole count and the deck thickness

A kitchen faucet is ordered for the holes drilled in the sink and the thickness of the deck it clamps through, and a discount does not drill a hole.

The Pfister Talega is the lower-tier kitchen pick with the thickest printed deck allowance and magnetic docking. Its page prints a hose figure that cannot be separated from the 36 in supply lines, so none is quoted. The Delta Essa on Amazon is the Touch2O 9113T variant, not the 9113-DST sheet read here, so it is not a pick; the full comparison is on best kitchen faucet.

Trap 4: the thread and the arm behind a shower head

Two makers print the arm thread: Kohler’s Forte sheet says 1/2 in-14 NPT, High Sierra’s page 1/2 in-14 NPS female with no Teflon tape required. Kohler’s sheet adds that the arm and flange are sold separately, so the card’s photo may show parts the box does not hold.

The Delta In2ition 75655SN is the 2-in-1 pick: 1.75 gpm at 80 psi (30 percent below the federal 2.5 gpm, arithmetic), six settings including Pause, and a Lifetime Limited Warranty on Delta’s page. Delta prints neither a hose length nor an arm thread, so a reader with an odd arm checks it before buying.

The Kohler Forte K-22169-G is the pick for a reader who wants every standard printed on the maker’s sheet; skip it if you want a handheld. If house pressure sits above 80 psi, the high water pressure guide explains why a regulator comes before a new head.

Before you add a faucet or shower head to the cart

Find your state’s flow cap, count the sink holes and measure the deck, and if the old faucet only drips, read the cartridge first. Those checks pick the unit; the card’s percentage only picks the day.

Trap 5: the filtered shower head and the toilet in the same cart

A filtered shower head is bought for its cartridge’s certification and interval: see the shower filter review and the shower filter cartridge page. A toilet on sale is bought for its rough-in: see best toilet and the rough-in page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the legal maximum flow rate for a shower head and a kitchen faucet?

Federal rule 10 CFR 430.32 caps shower heads at 2.5 gallons per minute measured at 80 psi and kitchen and lavatory faucets, plus replacement aerators, at 2.2 gpm at 60 psi. California's Title 20 section 1605.3 goes lower: 1.8 gpm at 80 psi for shower heads manufactured on or after July 1, 2018, and 1.8 gpm at 60 psi for kitchen faucets with an optional temporary 2.2 gpm.

Can a kitchen faucet carry the WaterSense label?

No. EPA's WaterSense bathroom faucets page says labeled bathroom sink faucets use a maximum of 1.5 gpm against a standard flow of 2.2 gpm, and that EPA does not have criteria for any other faucet type, naming kitchen, public lavatory and metering faucets, to earn the label. A listing that calls a kitchen faucet WaterSense is describing something EPA does not certify for that fixture.

Should I buy a new faucet on sale if mine only drips?

Not before identifying the cartridge. A drip from the spout or a weep at the handle base is usually the cartridge, and Moen prints the 1255 on its Arbor 7594 sheet, so a known model number points at a part rather than a whole faucet. The sale price on a new faucet only matters if the old valve body is damaged or the finish is gone.

How do I tell if a shower head discount on Amazon is real?

Look at the denominator. Amazon's seller guidance says a List Price is the suggested retail price from a manufacturer, supplier or seller, validated against sales in its store and competitors' prices, while a Typical Price is the median customers paid over the past 90 days excluding limited-time promotions. The FTC's rule at 16 CFR 233.1 accepts a former price only if it was the actual, bona fide price offered regularly.

When are the 2026 Amazon sale dates for shower heads and faucets?

Amazon's announcement put Prime Big Deal Days on October 6-7, 2026, starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT on October 6 for 48 hours. Black Friday falls on Friday November 27, 2026 and Cyber Monday on November 30 by the calendar; as of 9 October 2026 Amazon had not published its Black Friday window on any page this site could open, so no start date is given here.

Answer
A shower head or kitchen faucet deal is worth taking only when the flow number is legal where the reader lives and the fixture fits the sink and arm already there. Federal law caps shower heads at 2.5 gpm at 80 psi and kitchen faucets at 2.2 gpm at 60 psi, and California prints 1.8 gpm for both. EPA WaterSense labels shower heads at 2.0 gpm or less and has no label for kitchen faucets.
Basis
10 CFR 430.32 for the federal caps, California Title 20 section 1605.3 for the state caps, EPA WaterSense pages for the label thresholds, maker spec sheets and product pages for each pick (High Sierra, Delta 75655, Kohler K-22169-G, Pfister Talega, Moen 7594), Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days announcement and its List Price and Typical Price definitions, and 16 CFR 233.1 on former price comparisons.
Assumptions
  • US store. Flow figures are each maker’s rating at the test pressure printed on its document (80 psi for shower heads, 60 psi for kitchen faucets); a home at lower pressure delivers less from every fixture here.
  • Colorado’s state flow limits could not be read: both leg.colorado.gov bill PDFs returned HTTP 403 on 9 October 2026, so only the federal and California figures are given.
  • WaterSense is attributed only where the maker prints it; the standard numbers in the table come from the maker’s own sheet, never from an Amazon bullet point.
Method
A spec comparison written on 9 October 2026 from the documents named in the sentence that uses each figure. Nothing was installed or run by this site, no owner reviews were collected, and every listing in the picks was confirmed IN_STOCK through the Amazon Creators API the same day. Prices and savings appear only on the live cards, with Amazon’s time stamp.
