InSinkErator’s comparison chart lists eleven current disposals in three families. Badger 1, 5 and 5XP are 1/3, 1/2 and 3/4 HP with a single grind stage and 2, 5 and 6 year in-home warranties. Power .75HP and 1.0HP add a 2-stage MultiGrind at 6 and 7 years. Evolution .75HP has 3 stages at 9 years, Evolution 1.0HP has 4 stages at 10 years, and the Septic Guard and Cover Control are 3-stage, 3/4 HP, 9-year variants. Two specs decide whether a swap is a drop-in. First, the mount: only the three Badger product pages print Quick Lock, while every Power and Evolution page prints Lift and Latch, and no InSinkErator page read for this article states that one family’s unit fits the other’s mounting ring. Second, the cord: the Badger pages sell each model with or without a factory cord, and the Power and Evolution pages print Cord Included: No.

Every model is continuous feed except the Cover Control, which the chart lists as batch feed with a magnetic CoverStart switch: it runs only with the cover in place. All of them run a Dura-Drive induction motor; the Evolution 1.0HP page prints 1725 rpm, single phase.
The Badger 100, 500 and 900 are not on InSinkErator’s chart or lineup page. An Amazon listing titled Badger 500 exists, but no InSinkErator page confirmed it as a current SKU, so it is left out.
Warranty is the cleanest tell for which tier an old unit belonged to. InSinkErator’s FAQ gives the ranges: Standard Series 1 to 3 years, Power Series 4 to 7 years, Quiet Series 8 to 10 years.
Does the new one fit the old mount?
A mounting assembly is the sink flange, gasket and ring that stay on the sink when the disposal body comes off. Most cross-reference charts take it as universal across the brand, and InSinkErator does not print it that way.

InSinkErator’s installation guide and literature hub were not readable this session, so the honest position is: within the Badger family the pages print the same mount name, and outside it nothing on the maker’s site was found that promises the old ring stays. Keep the flange and ring that ship in the box until the new unit is on.
Does it come with a cord?
The answer changes by family.

The Power and Evolution pages carry a contradiction: the bundle text names a cord and adapter, the spec line says no cord. The lineup page resolves it in favour of the spec line. If the old disposal plugged into an outlet, order the cord, or pick a Badger SKU whose listing title says with Power Cord .
A hardwired unit is electrical work for a licensed electrician.
The dishwasher side is simpler. The Badger pages list a dishwasher drain connection as Yes. The Power and Evolution pages name an EZ Removable Dishwasher Inlet Plug, which the Evolution 1.0HP page says comes out with the included wrenchette. It stays in if no dishwasher drains through the unit.
What if the old unit was a Waste King?
Waste King disposals now appear under the Moen brand: the current Amazon listings for the L-1001, L-2600, L-8000 and L-111 print Moen ahead of the Waste King model name. Neither waste-king.com (server error) nor moen.com (empty page shell) returned a spec sheet this session, so no Moen horsepower, warranty or mount figure from the maker appears here.
The only Moen row this page can support is the Moen GT50C , whose listing title states 1/2 HP, continuous feed and a power cord included. That puts it in the Badger 5 class on horsepower, and nothing else about interchange is confirmed.
Match the mount before the motor
The Badger 5 is the one swap the maker’s own pages support as same-mount, and only from another Badger. If you are leaving the Badger family for a Power .75HP or an Evolution 1.0HP , budget for the new flange in the box, the separate EZ Connect cord, and up to 3/4 inch more height under the sink than a Badger 5. Which InSinkErator model is the direct replacement for a Badger 5?
The Badger 5 is still current: InSinkErator's product page lists it at 1/2 HP, single-stage grind, 11-1/2 inches tall, with a 5-year in-home warranty and a Quick Lock mount. The Badger 5XP is the same family at 3/4 HP, 12-5/8 inches and 6 years. Stepping up to a Power or Evolution unit changes the mount wording on the page to Lift and Latch, so check the fit before ordering.
Does a new InSinkErator come with a power cord?
It depends on the SKU. The Badger 1, 5 and 5XP pages each offer a version with a factory-installed cord and one without. The Power and Evolution product pages print Cord Included: No in their specifications, and InSinkErator's lineup page says EZ Connect disposals feature the hardwire adapter with the EZ Connect cord sold separately. Read the listing title before buying.
What is the difference between the Power and Evolution series?
Grind stages, sound tier and warranty. InSinkErator's comparison chart gives the Power .75HP and 1.0HP a 2-stage MultiGrind, Reduced Sound and 6 or 7 year warranties. The Evolution .75HP has 3 stages and Quiet SoundSeal at 9 years; the Evolution 1.0HP has 4 stages and Quietest SoundSeal at 10 years. Both series use stainless steel grind components; the Badger 1 and 5 use galvanized steel.
Do all InSinkErator disposals have a dishwasher connection?
