## Short answer

For one shower arm that needs a rain head and a handheld, the pick on paper is the Moen 26009
Engage Magnetix: Moen's spec sheet prints 2.5 gpm at 80 psi, the federal maximum under
10 CFR 430.32, a 6-3/4 in spray face, a six-function handshower, a 60 in metal hose, a 1/2 in
IPS connection and a lifetime limited warranty, with no WaterSense statement. For a home that
wants the WaterSense label, the Delta In2ition 75655 prints 1.75 gpm at 80 psi, six settings
and Delta's Lifetime Limited Warranty, and the Kohler Forte K-22169-G prints 1.75 gpm, a
5-1/2 in head and EPA WaterSense on its sheet. California caps showerheads manufactured on or
after July 1, 2018 at 1.8 gpm, so the Moen 26009 is not a California pick; the High Sierra
Classic 1.8 gpm is. Skip every unit here if the problem is weak pressure: no head on this page
adds pressure, and filtered heads are a different page.

## Fact sheet

- **Answer:** For a rain head plus handheld on one arm the pick on paper is the Moen 26009: 2.5 gpm at 80 psi, a 6-3/4 in spray face, a 60 in hose and a lifetime limited warranty on Moen's sheet. For the WaterSense label, the Delta In2ition 75655 and Kohler Forte K-22169-G both print 1.75 gpm. California caps heads made on or after July 1, 2018 at 1.8 gpm, which rules the Moen 26009 out there.
- **Comparison basis:** Manufacturer spec sheets and product pages for the Moen 26009 and 26100EP, Delta 75655, 75511SN, 75536SN and 58480-PK, Kohler K-22169-G, Hansgrohe Croma 100 04733000 and High Sierra Classic, compared on rated flow at 80 psi, WaterSense statement, spray settings, hose length, head diameter, connection thread, printed standards and warranty, against 10 CFR 430.32, EPA's WaterSense showerhead specification v1.1 and California Title 20 section 1605.3.
- **Assumptions:** The existing shower arm is a standard 1/2 in arm; every head here prints a 1/2 in IPS, NPT or NPS connection; Flow figures are the maker's rating at 80 psi; a home at lower pressure delivers less from every head on this page; WaterSense is attributed only where the maker prints it, and Moen's 26100EP wording ('meets EPA WaterSense criteria') is kept as printed
- **Method:** OwnerSpec compared manufacturer-published specifications read on 2026-10-03 and confirmed each listing in stock the same day; it did not install, run or shower under any head, prints no pressure-feel judgement, and reports only the figures the cited document states.

If you are buying a shower head because the shower feels weak, close this page: federal law caps every head sold since 1994 at the same 2.5 gpm, and a new head cannot add pressure the house does not have.

## How was this shortlist built?

Every figure here is a manufacturer-published specification read on 2026-10-03 from the
document named beside it; nothing was installed, run or showered under by this site, and every
listing was confirmed in stock the same day. Units were compared on rated flow at 80 psi, the
WaterSense statement as the maker words it, spray settings, hose length, head diameter,
connection thread, printed standards and warranty.

Three names are absent on purpose: no Waterpik listing was in stock, no AquaDance maker
document could be opened, and every Delta H2Okinetic head with a six-setting handheld was
scarce or on lead time.

A rated flow is the maker's gallons-per-minute figure at a stated test pressure, 80 psi for US
showerheads. Faucets are rated at 60 psi under the same federal section, so the two are not
comparable.

## What do the three flow limits mean?

The federal rule, 10 CFR 430.32, says a showerhead manufactured after January 1, 1994 shall
use no more than 2.5 gpm (9.5 L/min) at a flowing pressure of 80 psig.

EPA's WaterSense Specification for Showerheads v1.1 requires a rated flow of 2.0 gpm or less,
and it is a performance test: flow is measured at 20, 45 and 80 psi, the head must deliver at
least 60 percent of rated flow at 20 psi and 75 percent at 45 and 80 psi, and spray force must
reach 2.0 oz at 20 psi (1.4 oz for a rain shower). EPA's showerheads page says the average
family could save 2,700 gallons per year with labeled heads.

California Title 20, section 1605.3, caps showerheads manufactured on or after July 1, 2018
at 1.8 gpm at 80 psi, with the same 60 percent minimum at 20 psi.

## How do the heads compare on paper?

| Unit | Rated flow at 80 psi | WaterSense | Settings | Hose | Head | Connection | Warranty (as printed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Moen 26009 Engage Magnetix | 2.5 gpm | No statement on sheet | 1 (rain) + 6 (hand) | 60 in metal | 6-3/4 in | 1/2 in IPS | Lifetime limited |
| Delta In2ition 75655 | 1.75 gpm | Labeled | 6 | Not printed | Not printed; 12-1/8 in tall | Not printed | Lifetime Limited |
| Kohler Forte K-22169-G | 1.75 gpm | Listed on sheet | 3 | None (fixed) | 5-1/2 in | 1/2 in-14 NPT | Lifetime Limited |
| Moen 26100EP | 1.75 gpm | "Meets criteria" | 6 | 60 in | 3.5 in | Not printed | Limited lifetime |
| Delta 75511SN | 1.75 gpm | Labeled | 5 | Not printed | Not printed | Not printed | Lifetime Limited |
| hansgrohe Croma 100 | 1.8 gpm | Listed | 3 | None (fixed) | 4 in, 75 nozzles | Not printed | Limited, no term |
| High Sierra Classic | 1.8 gpm | Listed for 1.8 option | 1 | None (fixed) | Not printed | 1/2 in-14 NPS female | 2 to 10 years by model |

Standards are printed on two sheets: Moen's 26009 and Kohler's K-22169-G both list
ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1, and Kohler adds DOE EPAct 1992, EPA WaterSense, CEC and IAPMO. No
other maker here prints a standard number.

## Moen 26009 Engage Magnetix: buy it or skip it?

Buy it if one arm has to carry a rain head and a handheld. Moen's spec sheet prints 2.5 gpm
(9.5 L/min) at 80 psi, a 6-3/4 in spray face, a single-function rainshower, a six-function
handshower, a 3-way diverter that runs either head or both, a 60 in metal double-interlock
hose, a pause button, a 1/2 in IPS connection, ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1 and a lifetime
limited warranty to the original homeowner (10 years multifamily, 5 years commercial).

The flaw is the flow: 2.5 gpm is the federal maximum, the sheet carries no WaterSense
statement, and the unit misses California's 1.8 gpm cap. The 60 in hose comes only in Chrome
and Spot Resist Brushed Nickel per the sheet.

Skip it if the state caps flow at 1.8 gpm, or if the goal is a lower bill: the
[shower water and energy cost calculator](/plumbing/calculators/shower-water-and-energy-cost-calculator/)
prices the gap between 2.5 and 1.75 gpm for your own shower length.

## Delta In2ition 75655: buy it or skip it?

Buy it if you want the same fixed-plus-handheld idea with the WaterSense label on it. Delta's
page prints 1.75 gpm at 80 psi (6.6 L/min at 552 kPa), six settings (Full Body, Massaging,
Shampoo Rinsing, Shampoo With Massage, ProClean and Pause), MagnaTite magnetic docking,
12-1/8 in overall height, four finishes and Delta's Lifetime Limited Warranty.

The flaw is what Delta's page leaves out: no hose length and no head diameter. The 75655 is
not an H2Okinetic head; Delta's H2Okinetic In2ition is the 58480-PK, whose page prints a 60 to
82 in stretchable hose and a "3X the coverage" claim, and which was on lead time at writing.

Skip it if the hose length must be known before you buy: Moen prints 60 in, Delta nothing.

## Kohler Forte K-22169-G: buy it or skip it?

Buy it if you want a fixed head and the standards in print. Kohler's spec sheet lists
1.75 gpm (6.6 lpm), three functions (full coverage, pulsating massage, silk spray), a
5-1/2 in diameter, 4-7/8 in height, a 1/2 in-14 NPT connection, ASME A112.18.1/CSA B125.1,
DOE EPAct 1992, EPA WaterSense, CEC and IAPMO, and Kohler's Faucet Lifetime Limited Warranty.

The flaw is the box: the shower arm and flange are sold separately per the sheet.

Skip it if anyone washes a dog or a child in that shower: a fixed head is the wrong tool.

## Handheld only (Moen 26100EP and Delta 75511): buy them or skip them?

Buy the Moen 26100EP if the magnetic dock is
the point. Moen's shop page prints 1.75 gpm (6.65 L/min) max, six functions, a 3.5 in spray
head, a 60 in hose, Magnetix docking, a double check valve and a limited lifetime warranty,
and says the head "meets EPA WaterSense criteria".

Buy the Delta 75511SN if the WaterSense label,
as a label, is what you want printed. Delta's page lists 1.75 gpm at 80 psi, five settings
(Full Spray, Full Spray + Massage, Massage, Shampoo Rinse, Pause), the WaterSense label and a
Lifetime Limited Warranty.

The flaw the two share is paperwork. Moen's wording is "meets EPA WaterSense criteria", which
this page does not rewrite as labeled; Delta prints the label but no hose length. Delta's
75536SN H2Okinetic handheld prints a 72 in hose, 1/2 in IPS and six settings, but it was
scarce at writing, so it is named and not picked.

Skip both if you want a rain head: neither has one.

## hansgrohe Croma 100 and High Sierra Classic: buy them or skip them?

Buy the hansgrohe Croma 100 if you want a
compact European head. Hansgrohe's page prints 1.8 gpm, WaterSense, three sprays (Rain,
Massage, Shampoo), a 4 in face with 75 nozzles, QuickClean and an 8 L/min flow limiter.

Its flaw is twofold: Hansgrohe marks the Croma 100 as phasing out in favour of the Pulsify S,
and the page says only "Limited Warranty" with no term, so the warranty column is blank for it.

Buy the High Sierra Classic 1.8 gpm if you
live under California's cap or want the lowest flow here. High Sierra's product page lists
the 1.25, 1.5 and 1.8 gpm options as WaterSense, a solid lead-free metal body, a pressure-
compensating nozzle and a 1/2 in-14 NPS female thread; the 1.8 gpm chrome unit is the pick
because the 1.5 gpm listings were scarce.

Its flaw is the warranty line: High Sierra's support page gives 2 years for standard models
up to 10 years for the STEELHEAD, and prints no single term for the Classic. One spray
pattern, no settings.

**Check the state cap and the pressure before you buy**

Two numbers decide this page: your state's flow cap (California prints 1.8 gpm, which removes
the Moen 26009) and static pressure at a hose bib, read with a gauge. Every rating above is at
80 psi, and WaterSense guarantees only 60 percent of rated flow at 20 psi. If the gauge reads
above 80 psi, read [when you need a PRV](/plumbing/guides/high-water-pressure-80-psi-when-you-need-a-prv/)
first; the regulator matters more than the head.

## Who should skip every head here?

**Anyone with weak pressure.** No maker here publishes a pressure-feel figure, and no head
adds pressure. The fix is at the supply side, not the arm.

**Anyone buying for chlorine or hard water.** Filtered heads are compared on the
[shower head filter page](/water/reviews/best-shower-head-filter-chlorine-hard-water/).

**Anyone who needs an H2Okinetic Delta now.** Every six-setting H2Okinetic handheld was scarce
or on lead time at writing.

## What goes wrong?

**The state cap is missed.** A 2.5 gpm head bought online for a California bathroom is over
the 1.8 gpm Title 20 limit for heads made on or after July 1, 2018.

**The hose is too short.** Moen prints 60 in; Delta prints no length on the 75655 or 75511SN,
so a tall shower or a bath-and-shower combo is a guess with those two.

**The flow drops with pressure.** WaterSense requires only 60 percent of rated flow at 20 psi,
so a 1.75 gpm head in a low-pressure house can run near 1 gpm. The
[cost calculator](/plumbing/calculators/shower-water-and-energy-cost-calculator/) shows what
each gpm step costs per year.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the maximum flow rate for a shower head in the US?

Federal rule 10 CFR 430.32 limits showerheads manufactured after January 1, 1994 to 2.5 gpm (9.5 L/min) at a flowing pressure of 80 psig. EPA's WaterSense label requires a rated flow of 2.0 gpm or less, and California Title 20 caps heads manufactured on or after July 1, 2018 at 1.8 gpm at 80 psi. Check the state rule before the brand.

### Does a 1.75 gpm shower head feel weak?

No maker publishes a pressure-feel figure, so this page cannot answer that from a document. What EPA's WaterSense specification v1.1 does require is a spray force of at least 2.0 oz at 20 psi for showerheads and hand-held showers, 1.4 oz for rain showers, and a minimum flow of at least 60 percent of the rated flow at 20 psi.

### Is the Moen Engage Magnetix WaterSense labeled?

The Moen 26009 spec sheet prints 2.5 gpm at 80 psi and no WaterSense statement, which fits: the label requires 2.0 gpm or less. The handheld-only Moen 26100EP is a different unit at 1.75 gpm, and Moen's shop page says it 'meets EPA WaterSense criteria'. That wording is kept as printed here rather than rewritten as labeled.

### What thread does a shower head need?

A standard 1/2 in shower arm. Moen prints 1/2 in IPS on the 26009 sheet, Kohler prints 1/2 in-14 NPT on the K-22169-G sheet and High Sierra prints a 1/2 in-14 NPS female thread. All three screw onto the same arm with thread tape; no adapter is listed by any maker on this page for a US shower arm.

### How much water does a WaterSense shower head save?

EPA's WaterSense showerheads page says labeled models use no more than 2.0 gpm against 2.5 gpm for a standard head, and that the average family could save 2,700 gallons per year by installing them. The 1.75 gpm heads on this page are rated 30 percent below the 2.5 gpm federal maximum, by arithmetic on the printed ratings.
