If you have not yet put a tape between the bolt holes and the front rim, this is the wrong page: the round versus elongated size page comes first, because Bio Bidet says an elongated seat on a round bowl leaves a 2 in overhang that may bend, crack or fail.

Listings were shortlisted from current Amazon listings, kept or rejected on the published spec, and confirmed in stock through the Amazon Creators API the same day.
Seats were compared on shape, material as the maker words it, slow close, whether the seat removes for cleaning, how the hinge fastens, warranty years and any printed standard. No Kohler, TOTO, American Standard or Bemis page read prints a weight rating, so none appears here.
Three gaps are declared rather than filled. Moen sells electric bidet seats but no plain Moen seat page or in-stock listing was found, so Moen is absent. TOTO’s product pages returned 403, so the SS124 is described from its spec sheet only. Kohler’s Cachet ReadyLatch has a verified sheet but no buyable Amazon offer on 2026-09-30, so it is compared and not linked.
Enameled wood is a wood-core seat with an enamel finish; Kohler calls its version molded wood and says it is compression-molded. Polypropylene is the plastic TOTO and American Standard name; Bemis and Kohler print plastic without naming the polymer.

Mayfair Cassel: buy it or skip it?
Buy it if you want a wood seat that comes off for cleaning. Bemis’s Cassel page lists enameled wood with plastic hinges, the Stay-Tite fastening system, Whisper-Close, an Easy-Clean hinge that removes for cleaning, Precision-Fit front-to-back adjustment, a 5.5 in bolt spread and an 8 lb weight, and says it fits most manufacturers’ elongated toilets.
The flaw is on the warranty card: one year, a replacement of equal value as the exclusive remedy, removal and installation costs excluded, and enameled wood for residential use only. The model mapping is also inferred: the Amazon title says Cassel, slow close, easy clean and elongated, and does not print 1847SLOW.
Skip it if the seat is for a rental unit or a commercial washroom; Bemis clears only plastic for commercial use. Skip it too if you want Stay-Tite fitted from above, which the Cassel page does not claim and the Linden page does.
Kohler Brevia: buy it or skip it?
Buy it if you want the cheapest slow-close seat from a toilet maker and will never take it off. Kohler’s K-20110 sheet lists plastic, Quiet-Close, Grip-Tight bumpers, Quick-Attach hardware, color-matched plastic hinges, a closed front and 5-1/2 in mounting holes, with a One-Year Limited Warranty and Codes/Standards: None Applicable.
The flaw is what the sheet leaves out. It makes no claim that the seat lifts off for cleaning, and it does not say whether Quick-Attach fastens from above the bowl. The Cachet ReadyLatch K-4636-RL sheet says both, and is the only sheet here that prints a standard (IAPMO/ANSI Z124.5), but that seat showed no buyable Amazon offer on 2026-09-30.
Skip it if cleaning under the hinges matters to you, and buy the Cassel or the Champion instead.
American Standard Champion: buy it or skip it?
Buy it if you want a plastic seat that lifts off, from a toilet maker. American Standard’s Champion page lists polypropylene, No Slam slow-close, easy lift-off hinges, EverTight bumpers, the Ever-Tite locking system and a 1 Year Limited Warranty, and says it fits most elongated toilets.
The flaw is the colour code. The maker page shows 5321A65CT.021; the Amazon listing title prints 5321A65CT.020 in white, which is the same model with a different suffix, and this page did not open a maker page for the .020 code. The Transitional 5024A65G prints the same quick-release and Ever-Tite features, but American Standard’s own page lists it as unavailable.
Skip it if the bowl is skirted: the Champion page says nothing about fastening from above.
Kohler Stonewood: buy it or skip it?
Buy it if you want wood from Kohler. The K-20466 sheet lists molded wood, which Kohler says is compression-molded, Quiet-Close, color-matched plastic hinges and 5-1/2 in holes, says it fits most elongated toilets, and prints a One-Year Limited Warranty with no applicable standard.
The flaw is that the sheet prints no hinge system name, no lift-off claim and no from-above fastening claim: the Cassel gives you all three for the same material class.
Skip it if you were buying it because the toilet is a Kohler. No Kohler sheet read says a Kohler seat is required, and Bemis’s Linden page names Kohler among the bowls it fits.
Mayfair Caswell and Linden: buy them or skip them?
Buy the Caswell 1280SLOW if the seat is going into a rental or a commercial washroom. Bemis’s page lists plastic, Whisper-Close, Stay-Tite, color-matched bumpers and hinges, a 5.5 in bolt spread and 3.6 lb, and its warranty card is the one document here that clears a material for commercial use.
Buy the Linden 1843SLOW if the bowl is skirted or one-piece and you want wood. Bemis’s page lists Top-Tite Stay-Tite that installs from the top, Whisper-Close, Precision-Fit, a 5.5 in bolt spread and 7.5 lb, and says it fits all manufacturers’ elongated bowls, naming Kohler, American Standard and TOTO. The Linden round is the same family for a 16.5 in bowl; its maker page was not opened, so only the Amazon title is quoted for it.
The flaw is the same for both: neither page lists Easy-Clean, so neither claims to lift off. The TOTO SS124 is the other top-mount option, with polypropylene, SoftClose and top mounted hardware on its sheet, but the API flagged it scarce on 2026-09-30 and TOTO’s product pages would not open, so it stays out of the picks.
Measure before you order
Do not buy a seat from a photograph of the bowl. Bemis prints 16.5 in for round and 18.5 in for elongated, every sheet here prints 5-1/2 in between the holes, and no sheet prints a compact elongated length. The size page shows where to hook the tape. If the bowl is skirted, add a second check: the seat’s page must say top-mount or from above, and only the TOTO, Cachet and Linden pages do.
Who should skip every seat here?
Anyone planning an electric bidet seat this year. A bidet seat replaces the whole seat and lid, so a new seat bought now is thrown away in months. The bidet attachment and seat comparison starts from the outlet, which decides more than the seat does.
A commercial washroom buying wood. Bemis’s warranty card limits enameled wood and soft seats to residential use. Kohler’s sheets print no use restriction either way.
A proprietary or oddly shaped bowl. American Standard’s knowledge base reportedly covers this, but the page did not render this session, so no statement from it is printed here. Every maker page read that addresses fit hedges with “most” or names specific bowls: if the bowl is neither 16.5 nor 18.5 in, measure twice.
What goes wrong?
It loosens. Bemis’s Stay-Tite page says the lower part of the nut snaps free during installation once proper tightness is reached. Its troubleshooting page says the system is designed to prevent loosening, and if it does occur a simple tightening is usually all that is needed, with a warning against overtightening.
It starts to slam. Bemis says a Whisper-Close seat that begins to slam should be checked for obstructions or damage to the hinge mechanism. No maker page read prints a slow-close cycle count or lifespan.
It overhangs. Bio Bidet says an elongated seat on a round bowl leaves a 2 in overhang that may bend, crack or fail over time. That is a measuring error, not a warranty claim: Bemis excludes removal and installation costs.
The warranty is one year. Every figure printed here is one year, and Bemis’s remedy is a replacement of equal value. Buy on the hinge system and the fit, not on the warranty.

Do I need a Kohler seat for a Kohler toilet?
No maker page read this session says so. Kohler's Cachet and Stonewood sheets say fits most elongated toilets, American Standard's Champion page says the same, and Bemis's Linden page says it fits all manufacturers' elongated bowls including Kohler, American Standard and TOTO. Most is the makers' own hedge: measure the bowl and check the bolt spacing before ordering.
