Short answer

The LG LT600P is the genuine cartridge for an LG refrigerator whose current filter is printed LT600P, and LG’s product page lists it under part numbers 5231JA2006A and 5231JA2006F with a 6 month / 300 gallon capacity and NSF42 and NSF53 marks. NSF’s database lists it under LG Electronics as 5231JA2006F LT600P/PC/PCS, element 5231JA2006A-S, at 300 gallons and 0.5 gpm: NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine, class I particulate and taste and odor reduction, and NSF/ANSI 53 for lead, cyst, mercury, benzene, atrazine, lindane, 2,4-D and turbidity reduction. The Sears model 5231JA2006E 469990, the number sold as Kenmore 46-9990, shares the same element and the same claims. Amazon US sold no genuine LT600P on 2026-10-11, so the genuine part comes from LG directly. Aftermarket cartridges twist into the same housing, but NSF lists most of them to 42 only; the spec that must match is the certification tier, not the shape.

The picks

  1. Chlorine taste only, cheapest per cartridge

    Waterdrop 5231JA2006A replacement, 3 pack

NSF lists Waterdrop's WD-LT600P under NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine and taste and odor reduction, 300 gallons, 0.5 gpm; no 53 entry; 3 cartridges per box

  2. Lead or cyst reduction is the reason you change it

Waterdrop Plus 5231JA2006A (NSF 401 and 53 in the title)

NSF lists Waterdrop's WDP-LT600P under NSF/ANSI 42, 53 (cyst, lead, benzene, carbofuran, endrin, mercury) and 401, 300 gallons, 0.5 gpm; single cartridge

  3. Kenmore 46-9990 housing, wants a 53-listed model code

    ICEPURE PLUS RWF1000AH, 2 pack

NSF lists model RWF1000AH under NSF/ANSI 42 (particulate class I) and 53 (cyst, lead, mercury), 300 gallons, 0.5 gpm, with an NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 lead-content note; the listing title names LT600P, 5231JA2006A-S and Kenmore 46-9990; 2 cartridges

If the cartridge you just pulled is printed LT700P, LT800P or LT1000P, leave now: those are different housings with their own pages (LT700P, LT800P, LT1000P), and nothing here fits them.

Which part numbers are the genuine LT600P?

LG’s LT600P page prints “Model LT600P (Part No. 5231JA2006A / 5231JA2006F)”, titles it a “6 Month / 300 Gallon Capacity” filter, and states NSF42 and NSF53 certification. The page prints no flow rate, no list of compatible refrigerator models and no Kenmore number; fit is a dynamic lookup by refrigerator model number.

NSF’s listing fills in what LG’s page leaves out, read on 2026-10-11.

NSF fieldListing (LG Electronics Inc.)

Service flow0.5 gpm
NSF/ANSI 42 claimsChlorine reduction; nominal particulate reduction, class I; taste and odor reduction
NSF/ANSI 53 claims2,4-D, atrazine, benzene, turbidity, mercury, lead, lindane, cyst reduction

The same element appears twice more in NSF’s database: under Handok Clean Tech Co. Ltd. of Daejeon, the maker of the LG-integrated filter, with identical claims, and under Sears Brands Management Corp. as model 5231JA2006E 469990. That Sears entry is the number aftermarket listings write as Kenmore 46-9990; NSF itself never prints the word Kenmore. If your fridge is a Kenmore, the Kenmore 9081, 9083 and 9930 page covers the other Kenmore numbers.

Two numbers this page does not confirm: a retailer page describes 5231JA2006B as a successor to 5231JA2006A, and LG’s own page does not print it. Regard any “B” box as unverified until LG’s page says otherwise.

Where do you buy the genuine part?

Not on Amazon. Six Creators API searches on 2026-10-11 returned no genuine LG LT600P, only aftermarket cartridges sold against the 5231JA2006A number. LG sells the LT600P directly on lg.com. The OEM versus generic guide sets out what the price gap buys.

What else fits the same housing?

Every aftermarket LT600P-named model in NSF’s search is rated 300 gallons at 0.5 gpm, the same as LG’s. What differs is the standard each model code is listed to. NSF lists a model code and a holder, not an ASIN: the tie to each listing below rests on the model code in its title.

The plain ICEPURE and PUREPLUS cartridges sold under the 5231JA2006A number were in stock, but neither trade name appears in NSF’s search, so this page does not link them. The ICEPURE PLUS listing is linked only because its title carries RWF1000AH, a code NSF lists under three holders, none of them ICEPURE.

The standards explainer sets out what 42 and 53 cover. If lead from a service line is why the filter matters, only a row with a 53 entry answers it. If the complaint is chlorine taste, every row lists 42.

How often does it need replacing?

LG prints “6 Month / 300 Gallon Capacity” and does not say which figure governs, so replace at whichever arrives first. NSF rates the same cartridge at 300 gallons, which a household that fills bottles and runs the ice maker reaches well inside 6 months.

LG’s page publishes neither a flow rate nor a micron rating; the 0.5 gpm figure on this page is NSF’s listed service flow, and no micron figure is printed by any primary source read.

Genuine or cross-fit

The honest flaw in the cross-fits is that the budget Waterdrop 3 pack matches a model code NSF lists to 42 only: it is a chlorine-taste cartridge, and lead is not on its claim list. If NSF/ANSI 53 is why you change the filter, buy the genuine LT600P from LG or the Waterdrop Plus , whose WDP-LT600P code NSF lists for lead and cyst reduction. For a Kenmore 46-9990 housing the ICEPURE PLUS RWF1000AH carries the only other 53-listed model code found in stock. Not sure the housing is an LT600P? Check the filter-by-model lookup and the refrigerator filter review first.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Kenmore 46-9990 the same filter as the LG LT600P?

NSF's database lists Sears Brands Management Corp. for model 5231JA2006E 469990 with the same element, 5231JA2006A-S, the same 300 gallon capacity and 0.5 gpm flow, and the same NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 reduction claims as LG's 5231JA2006F LT600P. NSF never prints the word Kenmore there; the hyphenated 46-9990 appears only in aftermarket listing titles.

Which NSF/ANSI 53 claims does the LT600P carry?

Under NSF/ANSI 53, NSF lists LG Electronics' 5231JA2006F LT600P/PC/PCS for 2,4-D, atrazine, benzene, turbidity, mercury, lead, lindane and cyst reduction, at 300 gallons and 0.5 gpm. Under NSF/ANSI 42 the same model is listed for chlorine reduction, nominal particulate reduction class I, and taste and odor reduction. LG's own page prints NSF42 and NSF53 without the claim list.

Can I buy a genuine LG LT600P on Amazon?

On 2026-10-11 six searches of Amazon US through the Creators API returned no genuine LG LT600P listing; every buyable result was an aftermarket cartridge sold as a replacement for 5231JA2006A. LG sells the LT600P directly on lg.com under part numbers 5231JA2006A and 5231JA2006F, so a reader who wants the genuine cartridge orders it there.

Does every LT600P cross-fit reduce lead?

No. NSF lists most aftermarket LT600P-named models, including Waterdrop's WD-LT600P and the AQF, MB and OB codes, under NSF/ANSI 42 only, for chlorine and taste and odor reduction. Lead reduction is an NSF/ANSI 53 claim, and in NSF's LT600P search only some codes carry it: WDP-LT600P, WDS-LT600P and certain -D or -P suffixes. Check the model code on the box, not the brand.

How often should an LT600P be replaced?

LG's product page titles the LT600P a 6 month / 300 gallon capacity filter and does not say which figure governs, so replace at whichever comes first. NSF's listing rates the same cartridge at 300 gallons. A household that uses the dispenser and ice maker heavily reaches 300 gallons before 6 months; a lightly used fridge hits the calendar limit first.

Fact sheet and how to cite this page

Answer
The genuine LG LT600P carries LG part numbers 5231JA2006A and 5231JA2006F, is rated 300 gallons or 6 months on LG’s page, and is listed by NSF under LG Electronics as 5231JA2006F LT600P/PC/PCS at 300 gallons and 0.5 gpm to NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI 53, including lead and cyst reduction. The Sears number 469990 shares the same NSF element, 5231JA2006A-S.

Assumptions
  • LG publishes no static list of compatible refrigerator models on the page read; its finder is a dynamic lookup. The fit rule here is the number printed on the cartridge being removed.
  • Amazon US returned no genuine LG LT600P listing in six searches on 2026-10-11, so the picks are cross-fits and the genuine part is bought from LG.
  • An NSF listing names a model code and a listing holder, not an Amazon ASIN. Where the maker’s own page could not be read, the tie between a listing and an ASIN rests on the model code in the listing title and is said so.
  • The 0.5 gpm flow figure is NSF’s listed service flow; LG’s page prints no flow rate.
Method
Part numbers and capacity read from LG’s LT600P product page on 2026-10-11; service flow, capacity, standards and reduction claims read from the NSF Certified Drinking Water Treatment Units database on the same day; ASIN titles, pack sizes and stock read from the live listings through the Amazon Creators API. This is a spec comparison. Nothing was tested.
