Short answer
The Viqua S463RL is the genuine replacement lamp for the S5Q-PA: Viqua’s MNL520104 manual names it for that model, and the genuine listing extends the fit to the S5Q, S5Q-Gold, S5Q-PV, SV5Q-PA, SSM-24 and SSMV-24, paired with the QS-463 quartz sleeve. Viqua’s own product pages name the rest of the family: the S330RL lamp and QS-330 sleeve for the S2Q-PA, the 602805 lamp and 602732 sleeve for the D4, and the 602806 lamp and 602733 sleeve for the E4. The S810RL lamp fits the S8Q-PA, which Viqua discontinued in June 2020 while keeping parts stocked. Viqua rates these lamps at 9,000 hours, tells owners to change them annually, and its FAQ says to clean the quartz sleeve at least once every 12 months. Genuine lamps and sleeves carry a one-year warranty, and Viqua’s sale terms say non-genuine lamps void all certifications. The spec that must match is the lamp part number, which each system’s manual names.
What fits
S5Q-PA family owners who want the warranty intact
Viqua S463RL, genuine
Genuine OEM lamp; 9,000 hours, about one year; 28 W, 120 V; pack of 1 with o-rings; fits S5Q-PA, S5Q, S5Q-Gold, S5Q-PV, SV5Q-PA, SSM-24, SSMV-24
Out-of-warranty S5Q-PA owners who accept Viqua's non-genuine terms
LSE Lighting S463RL-compatible
Third-party 4-pin stepped base, about 18 in (463 mm); 22 to 24 W per listing; seller claims 12,000 hours and a 1-year warranty; pack of 1
The spec people get wrong is the brand, not the length: the third-party lamp that seats perfectly is the one Viqua’s sale terms say voids the certifications.
Which lamp fits which Viqua system?
Viqua lists the replacement parts for each chamber on the product page itself; the S5Q-PA row comes from the MNL520104 manual and the genuine listing.
| Viqua system | Genuine lamp | Genuine quartz sleeve | Lamp and sleeve kit | System figures (Viqua product page) | Where the part number comes from |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S2Q-PA | S330RL | QS-330 | S330-QL | 9,000 hour lamp; up to 3 gpm (11 lpm); 22 W; 1/2 in MNPT | Viqua S2Q-PA page |
| S5Q-PA, S5Q, S5Q-Gold, S5Q-PV, SV5Q-PA, SSM-24, SSMV-24 | S463RL | QS-463 | S463-QL | 9,000 hour lamp (MNL520104); 28 W lamp per the genuine listing | Manual MNL520104 for the S5Q-PA; genuine listing for the wider fit list; sleeve and kit from the S463-QL listing title |
| VH410 | Not named on Viqua’s VH410 page: read it off the instruction sheet before ordering | Not named | Not named | 9,000 hour lamp; 18 GPM (70 lpm) at 30 mJ/cm2; 60 W; 3/4 to 1 in MNPT combo | Viqua VH410 page (system figures only) |
| S8Q-PA (discontinued June 2020) | S810RL | Not confirmed this session | Not confirmed | 10 gpm at 30 mJ/cm2; 46 W; 3/4 in MNPT | Viqua S8Q-PA page for the figures; S810RL from its listing title, which names the S8Q-PA and SSM-37 |
| D4 (discontinued 30 November 2023) | 602805 | 602732 | 602810-102 | 12 GPM (45 lpm) at 30 mJ/cm2; 50 W | Viqua D4 page |
| E4 (discontinued 30 November 2023) | 602806 | 602733 | 602810-103 | 22 gpm at 30 mJ/cm2; 83 W | Viqua E4 page |
Two gaps are deliberate. Viqua’s VH410 page rates the lamp at 9,000 hours but does not print its part number, and whether the 602806 also fits the F4 rests on a dealer’s kit heading, not a Viqua page. Both come from your own manual.
The S330RL , S810RL , 602805 and 602806 listings were opened and confirmed; the S463RL listing was opened (1 lamp, with o-rings).
Do third-party lamps fit, and what does Viqua say?
The LSE Lighting S463RL-compatible lamp is listed as a 4-pin stepped base about 18 in (463 mm) long, 22 to 24 W (the listing states both), 425 mA, with EPA establishment number 96823-PA-1. It is not a Viqua part.
| Lamp | Maker | Rated or claimed life | Wattage | Warranty | Pack |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Viqua S463RL | Viqua, genuine | 9,000 hours, about one year (Viqua pages and listing) | 28 W, 120 V (listing) | 1 year, Viqua sale terms | 1, with o-rings |
| LSE Lighting S463RL-compatible | LSE Lighting, third-party | 12,000 hours claimed by the seller | 22 to 24 W (listing) | 1 year, stated by the seller | 1 |
Viqua’s sale terms say to use only genuine lamps and sleeves: failing to do so voids all certifications, may seriously compromise disinfection performance, may damage other components, and affects warranty coverage. Its product support page adds that damage from non-genuine lamps is not covered, and that Viqua lamps hold under 10 mg of mercury, nearly 70% less than some non-genuine lamps by Viqua’s own figure.
The 12,000-hour claim is the seller’s. One LSE reviewer reports failure with 58 days left on a 365-day timer (about 10.1 months), and the listing’s review summary notes multiple reports of eleven months. Both are listing copy, not tests.
No HQUA or Bluonics lamp marketed for the S463RL appeared in Amazon searches on the day checked, only an HQUA ballast.
How often does a Viqua lamp need replacing?
Viqua rates the lamps at 9,000 hours on the S2Q-PA and VH410 pages and in the MNL520104 manual, and its product support page says lamps need to be replaced annually. 9,000 hours of continuous running is 375 days.
The quartz sleeve, the glass tube the lamp sits inside, runs on a separate schedule: Viqua’s FAQ page says to clean it at least once every 12 months, more often on some water, using a cloth soaked in CLR, vinegar or another mild acid per the MNL520104 manual, then a rinse. The manual’s replacement trigger is a sleeve that cannot be cleaned completely, which is why each lamp is also sold as a kit (S330-QL, S463-QL, 602810-102, 602810-103).
Viqua’s warranty splits by component: one year on lamps, sleeves and UV sensors, three years on electrical and hardware, ten years on the UV chamber.
Which lamp to buy
The genuine S463RL costs more than the LSE Lighting equivalent , and both are sold to fit the S5Q-PA. The difference is Viqua’s sale terms: the non-genuine lamp voids all certifications and can affect coverage on the chamber and controller, which carry ten-year and three-year warranties. Fit the genuine lamp while any of that is live; fit the LSE lamp only on a system already out of warranty, and set the timer to 365 days regardless of the 12,000-hour claim. If the well has never had a full panel, the well water test panel guide lists what to order, and the flow rate calculator sizes a chamber against household flow.
Frequently asked questions
Which Viqua lamp fits the S5Q-PA?
The genuine part is the Viqua S463RL. Viqua's MNL520104 owner's manual names S463RL for the S5Q-PA, and the genuine Amazon listing extends the fit to the S5Q, S5Q-Gold, S5Q-PV, SV5Q-PA, SSM-24 and SSMV-24. The lamp is rated 9,000 hours, draws 28 watts per the listing, and ships with a set of o-rings. The matching sleeve is the QS-463, sold together as the S463-QL kit.
How often does a Viqua UV lamp need replacing?
Viqua rates the lamps in this family at 9,000 hours on the S2Q-PA and VH410 product pages and in the MNL520104 manual, and its product support page says lamps need to be replaced annually. 9,000 hours of continuous running is 375 days, which is where the one-year interval comes from. Viqua's warranty on a genuine lamp runs one year from purchase.
How often should the quartz sleeve be cleaned, and when is it replaced?
Viqua's FAQ page says the quartz sleeve should be cleaned at least once every 12 months, and more often on some water. The MNL520104 manual says to clean it with a cloth soaked in CLR, vinegar or another mild acid, then rinse with water, and to replace the sleeve if it cannot be cleaned completely. Genuine sleeves carry Viqua's one-year warranty.
Can I use an LSE Lighting or other third-party lamp in a Viqua system?
The LSE Lighting S463RL-compatible lamp is listed as a 4-pin stepped base about 18 inches (463 mm) long, so it is sold to fit. Viqua's sale terms say to use only genuine lamps and sleeves, that failing to do so voids all certifications, and that damage from non-genuine lamps is not covered by the equipment warranty. Weigh the lower price against that language.
Is the Viqua S8Q-PA still made, and can I still get its lamp?
No. Viqua's S8Q-PA product page says the system was discontinued as of June 2020 and points to recommended alternatives, while stating that replacement parts remain stocked and available. The genuine lamp is sold as the Viqua S810RL, whose listing title names the S8Q-PA and SSM-37. Viqua discontinued the E4 the same way on 30 November 2023, with the 602806 lamp still stocked.
