It is the only unit on this page whose fluoride figure a certifier checked. The runner-up for a household without under-sink plumbing is the Clearly Filtered pitcher, whose performance data page reports >99.54% fluoride reduction, from 2.18 mg/L to below 0.01 mg/L, in a test by IAPMO New Jersey; that is a maker-commissioned lab result, and the pitcher’s NSF certification covers NSF/ANSI 42 and 372, neither of which tests fluoride. Skip both if the tap has never been tested: EPA’s maximum contaminant level for fluoride is 4.0 mg/L and most utility water sits well under it. How was this shortlist built?

Every figure on this page is the manufacturer’s published specification, read from the product page named beside it on 2026-09-14, or the standard’s own scope text from NSF, EPA and ICC-ES. Nothing was bench-tested and no unit carries a rating from this site.

A candidate made the table only if its maker’s page either names a certification under NSF/ANSI 58 or publishes a fluoride reduction percentage with the laboratory that produced it. The four columns that decide the pick are the fluoride percentage, the body and standard behind it, the rated GPD or gallons per cartridge, and the maker’s cartridge price and interval.

NSF/ANSI 58 is the standard for point-of-use reverse osmosis systems. NSF says a certified system is tested for TDS reduction and may also carry claims for fluoride, arsenic, nitrate, chromium-6, lead and in some cases PFAS, so a 58 mark on its own does not mean fluoride was tested. “Certified” on this page means the maker’s own page says so; no certificate number was read from an NSF or WQA database this session. “Maker-published” means a percentage from a lab the maker commissioned, outside an NSF/ANSI fluoride protocol.

Buy it if the fluoride figure has to come from a certifier, not the maker’s own lab. iSpring’s page prints 97.4% fluoride reduction, labels it NSF certified, and names NSF/ANSI 58 for the whole system at 75 GPD.

iSpring’s intervals are 6 to 12 months for the prefilters and 2 to 3 years for the membrane, priced at $41.99 for the F4AK 6-month set, $80.99 for the F9K 1-year set and $42.99 for the MC7 membrane. The RCC7 replacement filter page lists each part.

Skip it if the sink is in a rental where the counter cannot be drilled for the faucet, or if the cupboard cannot take a tank plus six vertical housings. Skip it if the answer has to be a pitcher.

Alternative: the APEC ROES-50 , the same mechanism without the certified percentage.

APEC ROES-50: buy it or skip it?

Buy it if the reverse osmosis mechanism is enough and a certified fluoride percentage is not. APEC’s page lists fluoride among the contaminants it guarantees to remove, names WQA Gold Seal certification tested for TDS reduction, and rates the system at 50 GPD at 60 psi or 30 GPD at 50 psi and 77 F.

APEC prints no fluoride percentage, so this page carries none for it. The reverse osmosis contaminant table is where the mechanism’s general fluoride figure lives.

Skip it if the reader wants a number to cite, or a cartridge cost before buying: APEC’s page names a subscription program and no price or interval. The ROES-50 parts page covers the cartridges.

Waterdrop G3P600: buy it or skip it?

Buy it if the household empties a tank between draws and wants no tank at all. Waterdrop rates the G3P600 at 600 GPD and names NSF/ANSI 58 certification for TDS reduction plus NSF/ANSI 372 for lead-free material.

Waterdrop’s intervals are the CF filter at 6 months or 550 gallons, the CB filter at 12 months or 1,100 gallons and the membrane at 24 months or 2,200 gallons; the system is listed at $539 on Waterdrop’s page.

Skip it if a certified fluoride percentage is the deciding line: Waterdrop’s 58 certification is for TDS, and the page names fluoride without a figure. Skip it at $539 if the budget is the iSpring’s.

Clearly Filtered pitcher: buy it or skip it?

Buy it if there is no under-sink plumbing and a maker-commissioned ISO 17025 lab result is acceptable evidence. Clearly Filtered’s performance data page reports >99.54% fluoride reduction, from 2.18 mg/L challenge water to below 0.01 mg/L, tested by IAPMO New Jersey in November 2025.

The same page says the pitcher is NSF certified to NSF/ANSI 42 and 372. NSF’s own scope for 42 is contaminants that affect how water looks, smells or tastes; ICC-ES says NSF 372 addresses lead content of materials only. Neither is a fluoride test.

Skip it if only an NSF-certified fluoride claim will do. Skip it if gallons per cartridge matters, because the data page prints no capacity and no cartridge price. The pitcher comparison compares pitchers on their NSF/ANSI 53 claims instead.

Epic Pure XP pitcher: buy it or skip it?

Buy it if a pitcher is the format and a published cartridge life matters. Epic’s chart lists 99.2% fluoride reduction, the cartridge is rated at 100 gallons, about 3 to 4 months of typical use, and the pitcher is listed at $89.00 on Epic’s page.

Epic names NSF certification to NSF/ANSI 42 and 372 and independent testing to 42, 53, 401 and P231; the 99.2% fluoride figure is Epic’s own chart, not a certified claim. Epic’s page prints no replacement cartridge price.

Skip it if the certifying body has to be NSF for the fluoride figure. Skip the older “Epic Pure” name when ordering: the current pitcher is the Pure XP, and the older listing under the Pure name is a replacement cartridge, not a pitcher.

Alternative: the Clearly Filtered pitcher , with the higher published percentage and a named lab.

Before you buy a fluoride filter

Do not order a filter until the fluoride number for the tap is known. EPA’s maximum contaminant level is 4.0 mg/L and the secondary standard is 2.0 mg/L; the fluoride guide explains where the utility prints its figure, and the test report guide reads a lab result.

Once the number is known, the split is plumbing. A drilled counter and a drain line make it a iSpring RCC7AK household, with the only certified fluoride figure here. No plumbing makes it a Clearly Filtered pitcher household, on a maker-commissioned test.

Who should skip every filter here?

Two candidates were read and not recommended. The Bluevua RO100ROPOT is the skip example: no fluoride percentage was found on Bluevua’s own page, its certificates page did not load, and third-party sites report figures from 76% to 99.84% for the same unit. A spread that wide is not a specification.

The AquaTru Classic is certified by IAPMO R&T to NSF/ANSI 42, 53, 58 and 401 for 84 contaminants, per AquaTru’s page, but that page prints no fluoride percentage and no GPD, only a 0.75 gallon tank. It is in the table for completeness; the countertop RO comparison is where it belongs.

What goes wrong?

The certification is read as a fluoride claim. A 58 mark covers TDS reduction; fluoride is an optional added claim, and only the iSpring page on this list prints one. A 42 or 372 mark on a pitcher says nothing about fluoride at all.

The pitcher cartridge runs past its capacity. Epic rates its cartridge at 100 gallons; Clearly Filtered prints no capacity on its data page, so the change interval comes from the box, not from a published spec. A cartridge past its rated gallons has no published figure at all.

The RO membrane is asked to do the prefilter’s job. iSpring’s 2 to 3 year membrane interval and Waterdrop’s 24 months assume the maker’s own sediment and carbon stages ahead of it. The RO drain ratio guide covers the other running cost, the water sent to drain.

Frequently asked questions

Does NSF/ANSI 58 certification always include a fluoride reduction claim?

No. NSF says a certified NSF/ANSI 58 reverse osmosis system is tested for TDS reduction and may also carry specific claims for fluoride, arsenic, nitrate, chromium-6, lead and in some cases PFAS. A system can be certified for TDS alone. Waterdrop's G3P600 page, for example, names NSF/ANSI 58 for TDS reduction and prints no fluoride percentage.

What is the EPA limit for fluoride in tap water?

EPA sets the enforceable maximum contaminant level for fluoride at 4.0 mg/L. EPA also sets a secondary standard of 2.0 mg/L and requires a special public notice when a system exceeds it. A water test report or the utility's annual quality report gives the figure for a specific tap; the filter percentages on this page only matter once that number is known.

Do NSF/ANSI 42 or NSF/ANSI 372 certify a pitcher's fluoride reduction?

No. NSF describes NSF/ANSI 42 as covering contaminants that affect how water looks, smells or tastes, such as chlorine and particulate. ICC-ES describes NSF 372 as addressing lead content of the product's materials only. A pitcher marked NSF certified to 42 and 372, which is what Clearly Filtered and Epic list, has no NSF-tested fluoride claim.

What fluoride percentage does the iSpring RCC7AK remove?

iSpring's product page prints 97.4% fluoride reduction and labels it NSF certified, under the system's NSF/ANSI 58 certification. The same page rates the system at 75 gallons per day and lists the F4AK 6-month filter set at $41.99, the F9K 1-year set at $80.99 and the MC7 membrane at $42.99 every 2 to 3 years.

Can a gravity pitcher remove fluoride as well as reverse osmosis?

On paper, Clearly Filtered's own performance data page reports >99.54% fluoride reduction, from 2.18 mg/L in challenge water to below 0.01 mg/L, tested by IAPMO New Jersey, an ISO 17025 laboratory. That is a higher percentage than iSpring's 97.4%, but it is a maker-commissioned test, not a fluoride claim certified under an NSF/ANSI standard.
